Product introduction

Stainless steel auto parts refer to various parts made of stainless steel in automobile manufacturing. These parts mainly include exhaust system parts, fuel system parts, body structure parts and decorative parts, etc.

Product features

Corrosion Resistance
Stainless steel contains at least 10.5% chromium, which can form a chromium oxide passivation film with a thickness of 1-5 nanometers on the surface, effectively preventing the erosion of oxygen and moisture, and is suitable for long-term use in high humidity and high corrosion environments. For example, in coastal cities or areas where snow-melting salt is used in winter, the average life of ordinary steel fuel tanks is only 3-5 years, while the life of stainless steel fuel tanks can exceed 15 years.

High Strength
The yield strength of stainless steel auto parts is usually 205-520 MPa, and its tensile strength can reach 515-1035 MPa, while the yield strength of ordinary carbon steel is generally around 250 MPa and the tensile strength is about 375 MPa. Higher yield strength and tensile strength mean that stainless steel is less likely to deform or break when subjected to external forces, and is suitable for automotive parts that bear large loads (such as frames and suspension systems).

High Temperature Resistance
The oxidation resistance temperature of stainless steel auto parts can reach 870℃-925℃. Taking the automobile exhaust system as an example, the exhaust pipe and muffler are often exposed to exhaust gas with a temperature of 500℃-800℃. Ordinary carbon steel loses about 50 microns per year due to oxidation at high temperatures, while the loss rate of stainless steel is usually less than 10 microns. In addition, when the temperature of ordinary steel exceeds 500℃, the yield strength will drop by more than 30%, while the strength loss of stainless steel is usually less than 10%, which can withstand higher thermal stress.

Wear Resistance
The Vickers hardness of the stainless steel surface can reach more than 200 HV, while the hardness of ordinary carbon steel is only 120 HV. From the hardness, it can be seen that stainless steel has obvious advantages in anti-friction and anti-scratch, and is suitable for door handles and car logos that are often subjected to external friction, impact and sand erosion. Ordinary carbon steel is prone to scratches and dents on the surface after long-term use, affecting the appearance and service life, while the surface of the car logo made of stainless steel can still remain smooth and intact.
