Advantages of Ni Resist Cast Iron Casting

Corrosion resistance

One of the primary advantages of Ni-resist cast iron castings is their exceptional resistance to corrosion. They offer resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, including acidic, alkaline, and marine environments.

Exceptional Strength and Durability

Known for their robust strength and longevity, Ni-resist cast iron castings stand up to significant wear and tear, extending the service life of machinery parts even under intense operating conditions.

Heat resistance

Ni-resist cast iron castings exhibit excellent high-temperature strength and thermal stability. They can withstand high temperatures without significant loss of mechanical properties.

Enhanced Mechanical Properties

Ni-resist cast iron castings support complex shapes and precise detailing, enabling the production of intricate parts with high accuracy.

Application of Ni Resist Cast Iron Casting

2

Oil & Gas Industry: High-performance impellers, diffusers, and artificial lift components designed to withstand extreme conditions.

Slurry Pumping Applications: Due to their abrasion and corrosion resistance, ideal for pumps, valves, and piping systems.

Marine & Chemical Processing: Used in ship components, heat exchangers, and chemical reactors exposed to harsh environments.

Power Generation & Industrial Equipment: Engineered for boilers, turbines, and heat-resistant components.

Artificial Lift Systems: Custom-designed Ni-Resist impellers and diffusers for ESP (Electric Submersible Pumps) and centrifugal pumps.

Production of Ni Resist Castings Using the Investment Casting Process

01/

Creating the Patterns: The first step in the process is creating an accurate wax pattern (also known as a model) of the component to be manufactured. This model is an exact replica of the part to be produced.

02/

Building the Ceramic Shell: The wax model is then dipped into a ceramic slurry to form a shell around it. This shell is left to harden, creating a robust mold for the casting process.

03/

Wax Removal: Once the ceramic shell is completely dry, it is heated to melt and drain away the wax, leaving a hollow ceramic mold.

04/

Casting: Molten Ni-resist is then poured into this ceramic mold and allowed to cool. As it cools, the metal takes on the exact shape of the mold.

05/

Shell Removal: Once the alloy has cooled and solidified, the ceramic shell is broken away to reveal the finished casting.

06/

Finishing: The casting may undergo additional processing, such as heat treatment, shot blasting or machining, to achieve the desired finish and meet specific tolerances or specifications.

Ni Resist Cast Iron Casting Quality Control in Dimension

Below is the common dimensional inspection methods used in our foundry:

Measuring tools

It is the most direct and simple way to test the dimensions and tolerances by hand. Common used measuring tools for investment castings include vernier caliper, depth indicator, dial indicator, etc. To ensure qualified products, we need to test the product by measuring tools one by one according to the drawing.

Testing guage

It is made according to the sizes which will probably affect the assembly or use of products. For threaded holes, we can buy go and not go gauge according to the thread specification directly from the market. Testing guage is mostly used when the dimensions can not be tested by measuring tools directly thread and plug gauges,

CMM

It is the most accurate way to test the dimensions of products. But it will add the cost of manufacturers for the high cost of CMM equipment and only few foundries have such instruments. We have our own CMM machine which is made of German.

FAQ

Q: What is the microstructure of Ni-Resist cast iron casting?

A: The microstructure consists of Type VII, type A, size 4-6, graphite as defined in ASTM A247. The matrix is austenite with 5-10% alloy carbide. The rim will contain type D graphite, size 6-8. Chill carbides will be less than 5% in any field at 100x and will be well dispersed.

Q: What is the difference between Ni hard and Ni-Resist?

A: In general, Ni-hard is used for severe abrasion conditions and Ni-resist is used for corrosive environments and high temperatures.

Q: How is Ni-Resist different from stainless steel?

A: Ni-resist - Is a form of Stainless steel which has had nickel added to it to lower the friction generated by the rotating face.

Q: What is the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Ni-Resist?

A: #2 Ni-Resist has higher nickel content compared with Ni-Resist Type 1. It has corrosion capabilities that are far superior to cast iron and has excellent galling resist. At Texcellent Industries, we have many sizes of #2 Ni-Resist in stock. Stocking tubing sizes up to 15.25 inch OD with up to 4.5 inch wall thickness.

Q: What is Ni-Resist cast iron casting?

A: Ni-Resist cast irons contain an austenitic matrix with about 10% alloy carbides. The austenitic structure is suitable for corrosive environments in sour well oils, salts, salt water acids and alkalies. The cast iron is relatively soft and chrome is added to produce carbides that help improve wear resistance.
