Description

Product Introduction

Titanium compressor wheel is a key component used in aircraft engine compressors and is made of titanium alloy. During engine operation, the compressor impeller compresses the incoming air through high-speed rotation, increasing the pressure and temperature of the air flow to meet the needs of the combustion chamber.

Product Features

High Specific Strength
The density of titanium alloy is about 4.5 g/cm³, which is only 60% of that of steel, but its tensile strength can reach 900-1100 MPa, and its specific strength (ratio of strength to density) is 20%-30% higher than that of steel. This allows titanium compressor wheels to reduce their weight by about 40% compared to traditional steel impellers while ensuring strength. For example, a traditional steel impeller weighs 8 kg, while a titanium compressor wheel weighs only 4.8 kg, greatly improving fuel efficiency and maneuverability.

Corrosion Resistance
The corrosion rate of titanium alloy in chloride environment is only 0.01 mm/year, which is more than 10 times that of aluminum alloy, and is particularly suitable for high humidity or salty environments. For example, a titanium compressor wheel that has been in service for more than 10 years in a marine environment can still maintain more than 90% of its initial strength, while the strength of similar aluminum alloy parts decays by more than 30%.

Heat Resistance
Titanium alloys can still maintain their strength and hardness in the range of 300℃-600℃, and are not easy to deform or break. The high temperature strength of TC4 titanium alloy can reach 500-600 MPa, which is much higher than that of aluminum alloy (high temperature strength is only 200 MPa). This feature ensures that the titanium compressor wheel can continue to operate in the high temperature environment of aircraft engines.

Fatigue Resistance
Fatigue resistance refers to the ability of a material to resist the expansion of microcracks under repeated cyclic loads. The fatigue limit of titanium alloy is as high as 510 MPa, far exceeding the 300-350 MPa of traditional steel. This means that titanium compressor wheels are not prone to fatigue cracking during long-term and high-frequency operation, thereby greatly improving the durability of the components. For example, the service life of a TC4 titanium compressor wheel can exceed 5,000 hours, while that of a steel impeller is only about 3,500 hours.

Product Applications

Aircraft Engines
Titanium alloy compressor impellers are widely used in compressor systems of civil and military aircraft engines.

Turbochargers
In the field of automobile engines, titanium alloy compressor impellers are used in turbochargers.

Marine Engineering Equipment
The corrosion resistance of titanium alloys makes titanium alloy compressor impellers particularly suitable for use in high-salinity and humid marine environments, such as compressor systems in ship engines and marine turbine equipment.

Power Generation Equipment
Titanium alloy impellers can be used in power generation equipment such as gas turbines.
